With available capacity in both labor and equipment, Cogmatic is in a unique position to take on more work from our customers in a tight market and allow them to focus on their core competencies. With an eye on the future, we’re enhancing our internal capabilities and investing in equipment to bring more value to our customers. And Cogmatic has built a tightly aligned supply base of outside service partners that allow us to offer a more complete solution to our customers.
We’ll always set ourselves apart by cutting the toughest gear and sprocket teeth in the market. Along with that, Cogmatic can help with these related technical and commercial services when applied to our custom gears, racks & sprockets.
Boring, Counterboring & Drilling
Ensuring a proper fit to the mounting surface is a significant contributor to part longevity and performance. Cogmatic can bore any gear or sprocket to spec and ensure concentricity of inner diameters and bolt circles with minimal runout. We’ll own the completion of finished part, including drilling & tapping mounting holes.
Milling, Grinding & Surface Finishing
Our gears, chains, sprockets, racks and segments all have a highly defined edge and smooth finish. We typically machine surfaces to 250 micro and we’ll chamfer sharp edges.
Ultrasound Testing
Inclusions are a common effect when working with natural materials. By using ultrasonic testing (UT) as an optional inspection step, Cogmatic can assure the quality of the material when the specifications require it.
Welding
Many of Cogmatic’s designs are made from a single plate of steel. For dual-strand sprockets and products with deep hubs, it’s more cost effective and practical to use multiple pieces of steel. We’ll put our certified operators to the task of applying a high-quality weld.
Assembly
In the power transmission supply chain, there are times where OEMs can benefit from a more complete assembly, where sprockets & hubs are mounted to shafts with pillow block bearings in place. Cogmatic has invested in capabilities and equipment to support this need. We can accept our customers’ consigned materials as assembly sub-components, or we can take over that supply with directed buys using customer-preferred sources.
Custom Packaging
A lot of work and care goes into every product we make, and after all of that we need to make sure that the part arrives at its destination in pristine condition & ready to install. Cogmatic is experienced in shipping large, heavy products to all corners of the world. We’ve developed an expertise in creating custom pallets and crates from certified materials, protecting parts from collisions, the elements, and inattentive fork truck operators.
Raw Material & Finished Inventory Management
As a general guideline, Cogmatic’s parts are custom and built to order, resulting in a lead time that varies based on the complexity of the part. Some of our customers require a model that makes parts available within 24 hours. In those cases, we collaborate with our customers to develop a finished goods inventory program that keeps appropriate levels of product on the shelf, ready to ship.
In other cases, our customers have a low- to mid-volume product that requires a unique type of steel that’s only available through a mill or a high-volume purchase. Cogmatic can acquire the material and we’ll set up a commercial agreement that allows our customer to take lower volumes, keeping their inventory costs down.
